Yes, V Sriram's lec dems are informative and entertaining! I have heard the one on Dikshitar recommended by DJ Ram.

No, I got curious about Dikshitar and found this gem of a video. A very interesting observation by Sriram in that lecture is the extent of travels taken on by Dikshitar all over India in those days of exclusive foot transport, fear of bandits, extreme weather etc

Yes, that was very impressive.

Dikshitar was a Trip Advisor of sorts for pilgrimages! There is hardly a temple in India not visited by him and the presiding deity glorified by song

That is a good analogy. I am going to use it :-)

Chaturdandi Ragamalika has been recorded in the immortal voice of Sudha Raghunathan's guru DR M L V herself!

I didn't find that.

Sudha's rendition is equally good; She must have sung it hundreds of times with her guru

It is such a pleasure today to listen to Dikshitar's compositions in all their glory - such erudition, skillful use of Sanskrit language replete with raga swarupa for each ragam he uses

I am not a fan of these nottuswarams either for the reason they are ADDICTIVE. I made the mistake of playing one of these - "Rama janaardhana" on an earlier show. That song was playing in my head for a week! :-))
