Matt Sabbath 9:27:20 PM
Deirdre I was drivin and one of the songs you played sounded like my phone ringing. Confusion. Lol. (not driving now)
Matt Sabbath 9:28:23 PM
That happens a lot w/ a dial locked on wprb in me car, I love it
deirdre dionysiac (host) 9:29:07 PM
there is no escape. there was one with a dial tone and one called "voice message", impossible to know
Matt Sabbath 9:33:30 PM
Love that a radio station fucks w/ me head😂Good for the brain!

FL A & M = Rattlers, so you were very close BTW I am listening in Tampa, FL. Very glad that you are staying on Thursday evenings, I do love the Thursday evening line up!
Kevin L 9:56:58 PM
Hi Deirdra, Hi all!
deirdre dionysiac (host) 9:59:50 PM
I have been known to catch the occasional high school baseball game in Tampa, Florida
liv.laf.luv. 10:00:37 PM
Ira~ hey homie, I grew up in St Pete FL :)
deirdre dionysiac (host) 10:01:11 PM
Hi Kevin! And yeah, I have what-else-is-out-there-itis when it comes to slot hopping, better heads prevailed in the schedulemakers room
Ira Te Mix 10:02:29 PM
@liv.laf.luv I am not originally from here, I've been all over, moved here a little over 10 years ago, was involved in a community radio station here for 6 years, then in 2020 the "ish" hit the fan and I had to get away from it. St. Pete was really fun the middle of last decade with tons of great shows, but gentrification ruined some of the scene...
Matt Sabbath 10:03:10 PM
@LLL I'm a big fan of U of FL at Gainesville! I love Gainesville.
Matt Sabbath 10:06:18 PM
Ira Te good point
liv.laf.luv. 10:07:41 PM
Ira~ cool, what station? st pete is so awesome, but moving back is not an option because of the extreme housing prices :/
Matt Sabbath 10:07:46 PM
Ira Te, LLL, et al, stick around for Lost in Time & Sludge!
Ira Te Mix 10:08:32 PM
@Matt, I live a short distance from the Metal Club called the Brass Mug that hosts most of the underground metal shows. But I haven't been there in a while, saw some great shows there. ...yes, I always stick around, that's why I love Thursday evenings on WPRB...
Matt Sabbath 10:09:26 PM
Ira Te I saw amazing bands in Gainesville for $4 (pre-pandy, pre-inflation days)
liv.laf.luv. 10:09:38 PM
matt~ I spent 0% of my time in gainesville and I regret it cuz it seems cool as heck. my friend recently opened a record store in gainesv, sunshine records i think its called 🤔
Ira Te Mix 10:09:53 PM
@liv.laf.luv.. do you live within the WPRB terrestrial signal range? I had a show on WMNF the station really wanted to do a WXPN on the cheap playing radio safe music....
Matt Sabbath 10:10:28 PM
But I almost passed out in Gainesville from the summer heat. Thank goodness for pools and AC and soda machines.
DSM. 10:10:36 PM
I really love Ted Peter's in St. Pete
Matt Sabbath 10:11:34 PM
@LLL Gainesville is so cool, a little island of academia and music and culture in the north FL swamplands. A real gem.
Matt Sabbath 10:15:20 PM
DSM you reminded me of the battleworn dive John & Peter's in New Hope PA
DSM. 10:18:29 PM
John & Peter's nice! Do you remember the head shop Now & Then that was right before the bridge? I loved that place, I miss the old New Hope.
DSM. 10:19:52 PM
First time I smoked weed me and my friend skipped school and his older sister and her friends took us to New Hope and smoked us out lol. I remember stealing a Snapple from the ice cream store.
Matt Sabbath 10:20:06 PM
DSM I do! I bought sunglasses there like Al Jourgensen of Ministry had 😂 I miss the Mexican food place that used to be there. I just went to Triumph Brewery recently and it was good.
Matt Sabbath 10:21:03 PM
Lambertville is kinda cool too. River towns are always funky.
TAndy 10:21:13 PM
I remember my first time smoking @DSM lol
DSM. 10:21:17 PM
omg Jourgensen sunglasses!! That's awesome. Oh yeah I like Triumph, and I like that one Great Barn or something across from the Playhouse.
TAndy 10:21:46 PM
I was heating up an ellios pizza thinking it didn't kick in so I kept going. Time dilation started kicking my ass and I was freaking out while staring at the windowshades
Matt Sabbath 10:22:02 PM
Tandy oi Fursday innit mate
Matt Sabbath 10:22:16 PM
Tandy LOL
DSM. 10:23:12 PM
lol TAndy, I remember thinking it wasn't doing anything too, and then it was definitely doing something!
Matt Sabbath 10:24:02 PM
AARP magazine just had a big article on edibles LOL 👴 appealing to Boomers & elder Gen X
DSM. 10:24:24 PM
Yeah Matt, I love the combo of NH/L. One two punch. Rivertowns got it going on like Stacey's mom.
Matt Sabbath 10:24:50 PM
Haaaa!!
Matt Sabbath 10:26:31 PM
Sorry if I repeat but I always chuckle how Aussie Ween fans flew from Aus to NJ and went to J & P's asking where's Ween? Ween was in Australia touring 😂😂😂😂
Matt Sabbath 10:27:32 PM
Shjips in the night
DSM. 10:27:42 PM
omg lol
Matt Sabbath 10:32:57 PM

TAndy 10:34:03 PM

DSM. 10:35:04 PM
the subway cost a nickel!
Matt Sabbath 10:35:20 PM
Lololololol
DSM. 10:35:44 PM
I do feel like I remember it costing a quarter tho for real
Matt Sabbath 10:36:07 PM
It was a big shock when that arcade game w/ animation, Dragon's Lair (?) went up to 50¢
DSM. 10:36:52 PM
Man I was mesmerized by Dragon's Lair animations. I always died like immediately tho
Matt Sabbath 10:38:21 PM
Tandy I get so much enjoyment outta seeing Matt Pike (Sleep, High on Fire) try to figure out digital tech and social media. He's hilarious. His vids are outta focus and he's high AF trying to understand the timok or whatever 😂
Matt Sabbath 10:38:35 PM
*tiktok, not timok
Matt Sabbath 10:39:22 PM
DSM for real! That game was hard!
Matt Sabbath 10:40:34 PM
I first played it at a creepy Atlantic City arcade on the boardwalk
DSM. 10:42:20 PM
arcades were so cool in the 80's. Dark and seedy, full of electricity.
DSM. 10:42:48 PM
Flemington Mall had a killer arcade
Matt Sabbath 10:43:18 PM
True. Little kids playing Spy Hunter next to serial killers & pedophiles 😂 what a time
DSM. 10:44:10 PM
LOL A place for all to gather
Matt Sabbath 10:44:13 PM
DSM old town Flemingtown was rad! I played Joust and was blown away. OSTRICH JOUSTING? fuck yeah!
Matt Sabbath 10:45:15 PM
I like how Wreck It Ralph bridges us old fucks and the newer generations
DSM. 10:45:22 PM
That's where I grew up. We had 2 movies theaters and the Speedway! Was a proper town
TAndy 10:46:00 PM
I miss the old AMC 24 in Hamilton 3 Honestly the place was going to close whether Disease happened or not
DSM. 10:46:13 PM
I could go for a Punch Out movie
Matt Sabbath 10:47:07 PM
Tandy yeah, AMCs are pretty cool. DSM Punch Out movie!! Greenlight, baby, greenlight!
Matt Sabbath 10:47:31 PM
Mia Goth in Punch Out the Movie
DSM. 10:48:22 PM
I wonder if big movie theaters will survive much longer. will be sad
TAndy 10:48:47 PM
Some of them will, but more will probably close in the future.
Matt Sabbath 10:49:48 PM
My older cousin made a hand-drawn guide to winning Vortex (?) that game with the dial control and spikes, psychedelic. He did it from memory, multiple pages.
Kevin L 10:49:54 PM
i miss drive ins
Matt Sabbath 10:50:32 PM
Kevin L ♥️♥️♥️ the drive-in will never die! (hopefully)
DSM. 10:50:43 PM
whoa Vortex master! From memory is crazy
DSM. 10:51:46 PM
Kevin L yes! They were so magical.
Kevin L 10:52:04 PM
Are still there any drive-ins Matt?
Kevin L 10:52:38 PM
we used to see how many people we could fit in the trunk
Matt Sabbath 10:53:01 PM
Nothing like seeing a grindhouse movie w/ a crappy mono speaker that barely worked. Kevin there is a dope one in eastern Pennsylvania! Still going.
deirdre dionysiac (host) 10:53:15 PM
Mahoning
Kevin L 10:53:19 PM

And you can camp at Mahoning!
deirdre dionysiac (host) 10:54:53 PM
Summer radio is my jam, haven't done summer evenings in a while, looking forward to it! Hope it has a sort of drive-in theater vibe
Kevin L 10:54:54 PM
We used to park in a shopping lot that looked down on a drive-in and tune the raio to the station for the sound. Cops would bust us though
Kevin L 10:55:12 PM
... in Pennsauken
TAndy 10:55:32 PM
Thank you for the show, Deirdre!! See ya tomorrow night
Matt Sabbath 10:55:49 PM
Kevin that's how Mahoning is! Radio station for audio!
Matt Sabbath 10:56:09 PM
Thanks Deirdre! Always a pleasure.
Kevin L 10:56:18 PM
Yes, thanks Deirdra!
Kevin L 10:56:34 PM
I'll look that up Matt
Matt Sabbath 10:57:52 PM
I had tickets to Pieces (bonkers grindhouse horror) at Mahoning but got freaked out, as that film fucked me up as a kid 😂
Kevin L 10:58:00 PM
I saw Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein in drive-ins
Matt Sabbath 10:58:33 PM
Niiiiiiiice. Classics.
Kevin L 10:59:16 PM
I'll miss you all. see ya later!
