Good morning critters of the radio!
Richard from Rocky Hill 10:34:12 AM
Hi Brian! Thanks for the excellent show opening, especially for playing the Charley Patton track. There's something about the original blues masters and their music that is so primal and powerful that it's beyond mere authenticity. Oh my ...
Brian (host) 10:48:10 AM
Thanks Richard! I completely agree, there's a reason it was so infectious from the beginning.
Mark 11:08:16 AM
good morning Brian as soon as u began that discussion it made me think of ice nine i just reread that Vonnegut last year & it’s an amazing book - one of my favs
Brian (host) 11:10:16 AM
Same for me! Vonnegut takes it in quite an absurd direction but brings up the perils of totally unfettered, dissassociated-from-society scientific exploration
Mark 11:15:29 AM
ha agreed u could use the book as starting point in discussing ethics & science I always liked who the inventor was always intrigued how cannon balls could b stacked & how he then cre

Mark 11:38:13 AM
great discussion i listened intently while driving/ just pulled over & got a wsj notification that branson has launched
Brian (host) 11:38:49 AM
The timing! Glad you enjoyed it. I hope he does alright up there
Mark 11:39:47 AM
yes & the science social influencer he took there w him ! :)
DSM 11:39:57 AM
Very interesting to hear about astroid mining, something I’d never thought much about as I figured it was far off, but hearing the logistics and costs makes me realize someone like Bezos motivation to go to space would definitely be to be the worlds first trillionaire
Mark 11:41:56 AM
my initial thought is wouldn’t b a private space miner but rather a state enterprise like the chinese space program- u certainly gave us a lot of food for thought 💭
Brian (host) 11:41:59 AM
I think you're right, DSM! For the moment, it seems like a great way to further enrich the rich. I see the long-term benefits to society, perhaps, but that's not the reason we'll do it nowadays
Brian (host) 11:42:09 AM
China would love to beat Bezos to space mining!
Mark 11:43:50 AM
but maybe the influencers like the kardashians beat them all to the rare earth mineral asteroid ☄️:)
Mark 11:54:36 AM
thanks for the discussions & music today - I’ll b following the links to further learn the topics! :)
Brian (host) 11:54:42 AM
There are a lot of superrich in the running. Hopefully the entertainment is enough to keep the rest of us in line!
Brian (host) 11:54:51 AM
Thanks for being here Mark!
