| Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams Contraband Love Larry Campbell Contraband Love Red House Records 2017 Americana Multi-instrumentalist-singer-songwriter Larry Campbell and singer-guitarist Teresa Williams’ musical and life experiences combine here for another great album on Red House Records. The husband/wife duo have worked with fellow artists including Levon Helm, Bob Dylan, Mavis Staples, Little Feat, Phil Lesh and Friends, and Rosanne Cash. Some of the songs on this album deal with an addict’s effort to get clean. This track looks at it from the other side, when a loved one realizes their only recourse for dealing with an addict is merely to stand “with arms wide open.”

That’s his first language.” Last week, his first EP, “Texas Madness,” came out; it includes three covers and two original tracks. I find the videos addicting!

| William Lee Ellis Call on Me (An Eidolon Air) William Lee Ellis; Julia Coffey, William Lee Ellis, Julia Coffey Ghost Hymns Yellow Dog Records 2023 Folk For the curious, an ‘eidolon’ is a phantom, a ghost or elusive entity. Godson of bluegrass pioneer Bill Monroe and son of lauded banjoist/composer Tony Ellis, Ellis grew up in Tennessee. Despite his Ph.D. in ethnomusicology, Ellis is happy to let his roots show. There’s a casual, almost ramshackle air to the proceedings, as if it’s a gathering of friends more than an actual band. Julie Coffey on background vocal; Pete Sutherland on fiddle.
