Providing back-up on the album are ‘a host of studio cats who existed largely outside of Chet Atkins' countrypolitan mafia: drummer Kenneth A. Buttrey, bassist Norbert Putnam, harmonicat Charlie McCoy, Lloyd Green on pedal steel, and others, including the most sought-after upright pianist in country music history: Hargus "Pig" Robbins. Incidentally, many of these same musicians played on Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline’.

While she says, “I am on a spiritual path. | Charles Brown Black Night Jesse Mae Robinson Driftin' Blues: The Best Of Charles Brown EMI Records 1992 R&B/Soul "Black Night" was Brown's second single to reach #1 on Billboard's R&B chart. It remained at the top position for 14 weeks, longer than any other single. In 2005, it was inducted into the Blues Foundation Blues Hall of Fame as a "Classic of Blues . Performed in the West Coast blues-style, it’s Brown on vocal and piano, Johnny Moore on guitar, Maxwell Davis on that smokin’ tenor sax. This was released on 78 in early 1951 by Aladdin.

| Doug Sahm and Band Wallflower Bob Dylan Doug Sahm and Band WMG - Atlantic Records 1973 Americana Dobro – David Bromberg; lead guitar – Bob Dylan; organ – Dr. John; vocals – Bob Dylan and Doug Sahm. Doug Sahm began his solo career in 1972, after the Sir Douglas Quintet finished its contract with Smash/Mercury and after Atlantic Records co-owner/producer Jerry Wexler convinced him to sign to his label. Wexler gave Sahm the chance to cut a star-studded, big-budget album, shuffling him off to New York where Wexler and Arif Mardin helmed a series of sessions with an ever-revolving cast of musicians.

| Eden Brent Goodnight Moon Will Kimbrough, Gwil Owen Ain't Got No Troubles Yellow Dog Records 2010 Americana Brent is from Greenville, MS, a place steeped in the Delta blues. Also close to New Orleans, where she recorded this album. Brent is a piano player ‘with an impressive groove anchored by a strong rhythmic left hand’. She and producer Colin Linden ‘injected her gritty, rootsy music with spicy elements that earmark the unmistakable Crescent City sound.’

When he played Newport Folk for the first time in 1963 as part of Newport's blues revival, he hadn't recorded a song since the 1920's. This album contains Mississippi John Hurt's first recordings in 35 years, recorded that same year Dick Waterman saw him at Newport.
