This is from John’s debut album ‘Rumble Strip’ available January 26. John says of this track, "My wife had these lyrics. I wasn’t sure what they were actually about but I loved them and they seemed to fit with a weird West African-Bluegrass riff I had. There are 2 distinct guitar solos, each a tip of the hat to 2 musicians to whom I owe a debt: Ry Cooder & Clarence White."

This track, a cover of one of Dylan’s testaments to his Christian faith, was produced by Phil Ramone.

The Catalan singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist developed her unique style of singing and playing guitar in counterpoint after moving to NYC from Spain. Born in rural Miss. in 1926, Burnside spent many years playing guitar in juke joints and bars, but received little recognition before the early 1990s. He even had his own juke joint for a while, Burnside Palace. This was recorded at Junior's Place, a juke operated by Junior Kimbrough, in Chulahoma in the hill country of northern Mississippi. Burnside died in 2005.

Joni Mitchell’s surprise return to the stage at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival was her first live performance in 20 years. The surprise set marked Mitchell’s first full show since 2000, her first Newport gig since 1969, as well as her first concert since she suffered a life-threatening brain aneurysm in 2015.

Live at LA Forum, Inglewood, CA - February 1974. Fifty years ago, Bob Dylan and the Band launched their landmark Before the Flood reunion tour with a pair of shows at Chicago Stadium. Dylan had been off the road for eight very long years at this point, and demand to see his return was so intense that promoters received 5.5 million ticket requests via a cumbersome mail-order system. To put that in perspective, that was four percent of the entire population of America.

Raul Malo is best known as the front man for the Mavericks. This is from his sixth solo album.

Lead vocal is by Barry. This is dosed with so many layers of vocal that they seem to have added a tom tom in the break to make up for near loss of the rhythm track. Someone in the wordless backing vocal (Maurice?) is performing the first significant falsetto on a Bee Gees song.

An African American jubilee song, or spiritual, a genre of music "created and first sung by African Americans in slavery”, what W.E.B. Du Bois called "Sorrow Songs". It is believed to be associated with the Underground Railroad, and was used to warn slaves to get off the trail and into the water to prevent dogs—used by the slavers—from finding them.

Great indie band from Lancaster, PA. They formed back in the mid-80’s, but appear to still be active; they released an album as recently as 2020.

Recorded in NYC in 1936. Fulton Allen was a prolific North Carolina blues guitarist and vocalist who recorded under the name Blind Boy Fuller. A prime example of the Piedmont style, Fuller was one of the most popular blues performers of his time, particularly well known for his distinctive use of the resonator guitar. His career was cut short by his death from kidney failure in 1941.

Waxahatchee is an American indie music project, formed in 2010 by American singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield. This is the leadoff single to their upcoming album, “Tiger’s Blood”. Crutchfield’s joined here by guitarist and singer MJ Lenderman.

The Prayer Cycle is a choral/orchestral album by American film and television composer Jonathan Elias. The project consists of a nine-part contemporary choral symphony in 13 languages. Elias described the work as "a set of nine adagio prayers" that were influenced by his "personal views" about the future of humankind and the power of prayer across cultures. The contributing musical artists "used poems [he] wrote as inspiration, interpreting the words in their own way, in many different languages and chants."
